Bihar edged out Orissa by 7-5 points in their three-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match, which ended in draw at Veer Surendra Sai Stadium in Sambalpur on the last day today. Bihar grabbed one point more than Orissa in both batting and bowling departments.
Batting first after winning the toss, host Orissa made a competitive total of 222 with the help of a half-century by Rabi Narayan Panda and useful contributions by Harmohan Praharaj, Surjit Mahalik and Somnath Sahoo.
In reply, Bihar rode on a century by Subroto Das and half-century each by Hari Gidwani and Baldev Gossain to compile 338. Among successful Orissa bolwers, Asjit Jayaprakasham captured three wickets, while debutant Gurmeet Singh, Praharaj and captain Paramjit Singh picked up brace each. In the second innings, Orissa were bowled out for 175, while Bihar reached 41 for three before the match ended in draw.
